    Oven insulating?
I bought a whirlpool single wall oven and have had it sat in my kitchen waiting for install for about 4 months. My cabinets arrive tomorrow and the oven cabinet has specific instructions that suggest I need to insulate the oven to prevent discoloration. Does this mean that my oven isn't insulated and I need to acquire some other form of insulation before I can install my oven?

I have read through the installation instructions for the oven and nothing is mentioned about insulating the oven to protect cabinetry.
    Please help.

The oven outer wall gets warm, and wood of the cabinet that contains the oven may get warm and discolor as a result! So the warning to isolate is not about your oven itself, but about the space between the oven and the cabinet.
If possible put some glass wool in between the oven and the cabinet, and find a way to exhaust hot air produced by the oven out of the cabinet.
    Capice?

Glass wool? Sweet, that sounds CHEAP! Like ME!
I was concearned that I'd have trouble finding an insulating kit for the oven. Or one for the cabinet.
    Thanks for the quick post.

Don't forget to find a way to exhaust that heat out of the cabinet!

Why not just line the cabinet with 5or 6 mm Hardflex sheet, this will decrease heat transfer to the timber cladding .

Check out "TOAC" on line they have insulation in 2 ft rolls that can be cut to length to surround your entire oven insert, don't forget the back wall of the oven also.

Their phone # is 805-643-3532 forget the loose rockwool too messy!

I have a double oven built-in to a brick wall. Today I had people from Freelightingcorp.com come out to check my house for energy efficiency. They discovered there is no insulation around the oven and so all the hot air from the walls leaks directly into my house. :( The question is... what do I use to insulate around my oven? The oven was here when we moved in back in 1991 so I have no idea how old the oven is.
    Thanks.
