    Maytag Washer Water Inlet Valve
I suspect that the water inlet valve on my Maytag top loading washing machine should be replaced. The machine will not dispense hot water. Cold water only is dispensed when the warm or cold wash setting is selected. However, no water is dispensed when the hot wash setting is selected.

Before I remove the suspect part, I would like to switch the hot & cold water hoses that attach to the water inlet valve. This should result in hot water only being dispensed. Is there anything wrong with this logic? Is there any reason why I should not attempt this?

One last thing. I discovered an online retailer who sells the water inlet solenoid valve for less than $10. Everyone else charges 3-4x as much. Is there any reason why I should not purchase the part from Buy-It-Now-Store.com Small Appliance Parts Humidifier Filter, Aplliance Part, Small Appliance Parts, Refridgerator Water Filter, Braun Shaver Part, Norelco Parts, Versapak, and more parts Their part number differs from the original part number used by other retailers. Just wondering if they are reputable?

    Thanks,

    Bay

You can switch the hoses but some Maytag valves like the one in my washer have a thermostatic sensor that blends the water for the warm setting. Mine went out and I replaced the entire valve.

Years ago just replacing the parts on the valves were an accepted method of repair but now days I would replace the entire thing.

Hi, I seem to have a slow leak at the water shutoff valve under my kitchen sink. The leak is coming from the part that is used to turn is on and off (sorry don’t know the specific name). The problem is that the pipes running to the shutoff valve are polybutylene. The valve itself is metal...

Ice maker water inlet valve connection [ 5 Answers ]

I am planning to replace my water inlet valve of my referigrator ice maker. I am confused with the electric connection. The +ve or -ve is not marked on the referigrator side or valve side. Please advice how to find this. Or Is it OK if I connect it anyway? Thanks Sam
