Kenmore Ultra Wash dishwasher doesn't drain

Hi, we inherited a Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher with a house 2 years ago. it has worked reliably until last week. Now there is about 2" of standing water in the base. I ran it thru the cycle once to see if it clear it out but it didn't. Any suggestions? We normally are very good at rinsing off food bits before loading the dishwasher (so much so that we sometimes have a hard time telling if the dishes have/haven't been washed) so i can't imagine it would be food clogging the discharge hose. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/thoughts.

Usually, dishwasher drain hoses connect to a disposer. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vac (prepared for water, of course) to suck any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If this doesn't work, let me know, and also include the model number of the dishwasher so I can see what you are working on. Good luck.
