We have a Kenmore Elite frost-free side by side refrigerator with ice maker. It's 2 years old but for the past 2 year+ we've been having problems with the freezer building up frost around the inside, and then the refrigerator doesn't get cold. I have to unplug everything, take the shelves out of the freezer and then blow-dry it sometimes twice a month, and then the refrigerator gets cold again.
I had Sears while under warranty come in twice they replace some thing and 3 months later the same thing happened, I had to call an so called expert to change something else first cost me $75.00 and the second time $150.00 and still have the same problems.
The seals around both the freezer and the fridge side are fine, so that can't be what's causing the problem. I've removed any dust buildup both under and on the back of the fridge.
I just wish where I could take it to sears and just dump it in front of their door.

sinthomas - i want you to try this < mostof the time frost is built up from hot air from outside the fridg> getting in and meeting the cold air inside :: The seal on the door can be ok <no tears <or any place comeing loose from the door < its hard to believe <but that sesal gets prett dirty< and the door does not seal as it should < take hot soapy water on a dish rag and wash the seal good all way round< also the door may be sprung and out of just right adjustment< which causes a leak in the seal when it is closed,it might have a slight warp in the door also , i have seen these causes more then a few times < < im not saying this is the cause on your refrig> <its just a try for you <and from my past expers<>

we have a K/elite side by side that does the same thing, but on ours the flap where the ice comes out had not sealed very well, and even has found itself staying in the half open position lately, thus allowing warmer air from the kitchen to get in, causing the ice to melt in the ice delivery area, and then freezing, which jacks everything up. We noticed soon after buying this refrigerator not too long ago that there is a serious design flaw in the way the ice bucket is 'supposed' to come off... moisture builds up under the ice bucket, and you cannot lift it off its base... I literally lifted the door up on its hinges trying to get the bucket up... the push button release does not really go very far. I have a friend with the same model, and same problems.

We have the same issue. The ice bucket freezes in place and we cannot get it out without a fight. I'm worried I will break it soon. We also have issues with the black flab on the ice chute sticking open allowing renegade cubes to escape at anytime. As well the crushed ice sticks to the clear chute only to melt and fall onto the floor later one.
Is there another forum where these issues are being discussed?
