Kenmore Electric Dryer Series 80 start button - won't start

Asked Jun 29, 2012, 06:35 PM — 7 Answers
Tonight I replaced the Door Switch - easy enough - and the inside light works once again. But now the push button to start the dryer does not work. Do I need to replace the blower box fuse and thermal fuse? What I thought began as a quick fix has now become a mystery. Can You Help ?
Model No. 110 628521101
I have been watching You Tube videos on Repairs etc.
thank you

See if you can hear the door switch, it may be bad?

You have to use a meter to find the bad safety. My guess is that it's dirty and you blew a thermal fuse. Since there are several you will need a meter to find the right one. Here are instructions: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8010163/Whi...e%20Manual.pdf You cannot diagnose problems without using a meter, it's very basic.

Make sure to clean every part of the dryer and the vent or you will burn out another fuse or cause a fire. Also, you should change the belt if it's over two years old when you tear it down and lubricate all bearings with white lithium grease.

Thank you Stratmando: the door switch did not click - I rechecked and noticed I needed to flip it around - backwards. My dryer works now.

Thank you drtom4444 - I made sure everything was cleaned inside the dryer - its free of lint.

Thank you. My door switch was on backwards. I did clean my dryer behind the back panel - it is lint free.

You have to clean all of the air ducts like the lint screen holder and the duct that brings air to the drum or it will burn out the safeties or start a fire. You have to disassemble the entire dryer to clean it right. Using a meter will make repairing the dryer, or any other appliance, much easier.
