Kenmore diswasher locked - how to unlock?
Good evening friends, I need your help. My Kenmore dishwasher's buttons are not working. The -lock- button keeps flashing and the manual says to hold the lock botton for few seconds and it will un-lock itself. I've done that several times but it will not work. The light goes off but goes back on again. None of the buttons seem to work either. I've called Sears but they require $75 just come in and look and that price does not include anything... just the estimate. Can someone help me please before I dish out $500 for a new one? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

I pressed the no heat/dry button for about 5 seconds, it flashed, then I pressed the start button and now my washer is working. I don't know how long this will work but at least I won't need to handwash dishes just yet!

Good news! I just wrote about my Kenmore. After talking to a repair man, I tore the whole door apart again (about 15 minutes if you have the right screwdriver) popped out the inner button panel, removed all 10 plastic buttons and sprayed them with WD-40. Evidently they wear or dry out. Now it's back together and working like new. The repair guy told me this is only a temporary fix, but no sweat, I can repeat it every few months if needed. $500 saved.

I could not get the dishwasher to start, the control panel says the washer is in the "locked" mode.
I tried the fix that was suggested on this web site: hold down the No heat dry for about 5 seconds. It worked!

After a wash and dry cycle the heating element did not turn off and stayed on overnight. I cut the power to it then came back after work and restored the power. I did not run a wash and dry cycle but the element came back on and heated up. Kenmore Ultrawash model # 665.17014402
