GE range F1 code displayed

My GE range, being the range not in use at all, suddenly started to display an F1 message, and sounded a bip signal. I used the Clear/off pad to clear the sound and message. They stop for a couple of seconds and re-started again. I repeatedly used the clear/off pad and always the F1 message and bip returned. I also switched the breaker off and they stop; however, they resumed again after switching the breaker on.
Plese give an idea what can be the problem, normally I do the repairs in my appliances, providing I know what is wrong with them.

The range is General Electric model J SP26G, YEAR 1994.
Thanks a lot

Florentino
