Frigidaire Electric Dryer belt problems

I've had a Frigidaire electric dryer for 5 1/2 years.( model # FDEB23RGS1) Back in December, the belt broke and I bought a replacement at an appliance supply store. Electrolux makes the belt and it says on the package that it's made for Frigidaire dryers.(Appliance Parts from Repairclinic.com - Product Details) The belt broke again in January and then again last night. When I took the factory belt of back in December I compared it to the replacement and they were exact. each time the belt is frayed and looks like it simply pulled apart. The edges look good, but it breaks in the center.

The belt goes around the drum and then attaches to a tension device in the back. There's only one way that it will work that I can see. If anyone's had any experience with this or can shed any light it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Electrolux owns Frigidaire.

If the drum is binding, the little shaft on the motor will eat the belt.

First question, kinda touchy tho...are you sure you're not overloading it? If you're not, then...

Are the drum rollers OK? This is the usual culprit.

Is the drum digging into the seal or binding around the front or back? You have to take the whole case apart to determine this. Sometimes they bind around the front seal.

I don't think that overloading is an issue. We've had the dryer for 5 1/2 years, and I'm the one that does the laundry around our house and I haven't increased the load sizes. I thought about that as well.

As far as the rollers and the drum digging into the seal, what should I look for? I've had the dryer apart now with the belt and changing the heating element out. So I feel comfortable with taking it apart. What should I look at to see if the rollers aren't working properly or if the drum is digging into the felt seal.

Rollers should move freely.

Inspect the edge of the drum and the seal itself to make sure it isn't damaged.

Nothing complicated, but if it is binding in any way it will eat belts.
