electric wall oven bake element wire

hello
thinking i was on a roll after rewiring my ceiling fan i decided to replace the bake element on my kenmore electric wall oven that died the other night-how hard could it be to do?
i turned off the breaker-unscrewed the element and gently pulled it out. one side had the wire attached-one did not
i could see the connector sitting in the hole so thinking all would be well if i could grab it thats what i did. well-there was no wire connected to the connector and it looked charred. so now my problem is how to find the wire. any advice??
thanks
phyllis

You have 1 loose wire. With power off, move wires in area of connection, and look for
end, probably burnt also. Your old element is probably still good.

i can't find the loose end. there is only the hole that the wire came through and it's not very big. i used a pair of tweezers to grab the connector but all i can find when i poke around is the insulation
thanks

Can you remove the back?, you need to get to wiring behind hole.

i finally made a little hook from a piece if wire and fished it out. it is darker than the other wire and the end is burnt. i'm going try to find the end connector and strip the wire and connect it and then try it out. if that doesn't work i'll have to call someone to fix it
thanks

Sound like you've got it. Make sure connection is tight, loose connections generate heat,
and can burn off.
