    Dryer Drum not turning
I have a Whirlpool electric dryer model# LEC8858EQ1. The dryer drum has stopped turning. I hear the motor and see the heating element inside glowing, but the drum won't move. I can turn it by hand.

Is this a broken belt or gear, or something else? Thanks in advance

You are right, a broken belt or gear is the problem and doing it yourself is a headache, so just call a specialist or depending on the age of your dryer, just buy a new one. It would be simpler, less time consuming and less expensive!!

Changing the belt is really not a difficult or expensive job. Go to your nearest Sears parts place. They will usually have the belt, and can give you a breakdown diagram on how to do it yourself.

I would agree, I think you may have a broken belt... UNPLUG the dryer and go at it, it's not too bad and pretty cheap, I would check the bearings as well as long as you have it apart

RepairClinic.com has the belt for $12 plus shipping. It should take about 45 minutes to an hour to fix. RepairClinic also has repair help, some diagrams, and free advice is you have a question.
