Kenmore Elite Dishwasher

My Kenmore Elite Dishwasher leaves a gritty residue in the bottoms of glasses, on cups, dishes, etc. It must be ground up food, but it's there even if I rinse the dishes. Any suggestions?

Are you using dry powder? The liqiud stufff just doesn't dissolve properly. Also if you do not have an air gap ( or if the drain hose from washer to drain pipe or disposal is not looped up higher than the drain itself) You can get dirty water coming back the washer. You can also remove the screen under the spray arm and clean it.

My Elite will not clean the top level - do you know how to take the water supple pieces apart?

Thanks. Mike.
