quick time download and itunes

Can someone help me with an error code 3 for quick time while I'm trying to download iTunes 6 (which simultaneously downloads quick time)?

Most sites seem to indicate that you get this error when you have a previous version of QuickTime or iTunes installed and it's conflicting with the new version.

So uninstall any versions of QT or iTunes you may have installed before trying to reinstall again.

This site also recommened downloading seperate standalone installers (one that installs just QT and one that installs just iTunes) and using those after completely removing any QT/iTunes versions.
