trying to unistall AVG7

Hi: I need some help.

I was using Grisoft AVG7 the free edition, and it was locking me up when I would try to get on line with Verizon DSL. I tried to unistall it, but it would give me an error and stop the uninstall. here is what the error was. Error-Action failed for file setup.exe:creating backup access is denied (5)% destination%-"C:\program files\Grisoft\AVG Free\setup.exe. install_backup"'%source%="C:\programfiles\grisoft\ avgfree\setup.exe"
That is the error I got everytime I went to uninstall Avg7. So knowing that it was not allowing me to use my DSL I Deleted the Grisoft Folder in programs, and deleted everyting I could find in reference to Grisoft, and AVG7, using Find files and folders. I can not find anything that is named this on my computer anymore, its gone that I can see. Now my DSL works great I get on everytime with no problem and its not locking me up or taking forever to do something on my computer, so I know for sure that AVG7 was really the cause of my problem. By the way I am using Windows 98 second edition. Now the small problem that I have and would like to get corrected is, when I boot up my computer now I get an error everytime saying. Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application. The windows registry or System.ini file refers to this device but the device file no longer exists. Try uninstalling the associated application using its unistalll or set up program Then it shows this D:\progra~1\grisoft\avgfre~1avg7core.vxd. I hit the space bar 3 times and then my computer boots up, and works great. I would like to remove this error but I have know Idea how to do it.
If I download AVG7 again I am sure I would still get the Uninstall error, because I did that once but because I could not uninstall I was not able to copy over the one that was already on my computer. I have not tried to reinstall AVG7 since I removed all of it by deleting it. So I need some help to get rid of the boot up delay and be rid of AVG7 forever.

Thanks Ken

I don't think they like playing together -- Verison DSL and AVG 7 ...I think you

need to disable AVG in the startup menu -- Go to START ---> Run ---> type

msconfig and click OK.. Look for STARTUP TAB in System Configuration --

Remove checks next to AVG --- Then UNINSTALL Verision and REBOOT

your computer -- Reinstall Verision DSL FRESH COPY without AVG running --

Now download a Fresh copy of AVG7 -- during install of AVG you need

to ok overwriting of previous install -- Then go to add/remove and uninstall

AVG 7 and reboot think this will get rid of AVG7 --

Thanks for your help, I had already removed the checks next to AVG but it was still causing my DSL not to start, so I just Deleted it all, what I need to do is remove the error from the boot up, and my problem would be solved, When I first started with Verizon DSL I could not install The DSL with the CD it would not work with my computer because it was looking for 64MB and I only had 63 because 1MB was being used for the Video Card, so I had to spend hours on the phone for Verizon to set my computer to work with there DSL, so deleting it and reinstalling it is out. I just need to Remove the Error on start up.

Thanks Ken
