Natural Healing Method for Ringworm

My 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter just started Day Care and has contracted a patch of ringworm on her cheek, with some fine bumps around the area. It has been confirmed by her doctor that it is ringworm. She recommended Lotrimin Cream 3x a day. However every thing I have researched about Lotrimin is that is slow acting and might take weeks to clear up.

Does anyone have a natural method for treating ringworm? we are in the process of washing everything with hot water, this includes toys, linen, counters, everything. We are also changing her bed linens every day. We are approx 5 days into this ordeal. Can you help we are trying to keep this from spreading to her scalp.

It is best to follow your doctors instructions, and do what they say.

For home methods, cover the infection with nail polish ( it will burn) and keep it sealed to air. ** I still do not advise doing anything but following your doctors, but this is a method we have used in the past.

Hi! Hopefully by now you have found something that worked but just in case you haven't I can recommend Tetterine ointment. It does not smell very good but if I remember correctly, it worked quickly. You can order it from the Vermont Country Store (online). Also, I found a website that refers to castor oil as a remedy...have not had a reason to try it.Castor Oil - Natural Protection from Deadly Viruses
Hope this helps!

Honestly if you tried clearing it up naturally or did not use the medicine it might take a couple of months to clear up. It is best to follow the doctors advice.

Ringworm needs the proper medicine and it will take two weeks or more to clear and this is normal.

Ringworm is a fungus and requires fungicidal medication to heal it properly. Lotrimin is good, and yes it may take a couple of weeks. But if not healed properly and completely can leave a scar.

So, please follow the doctor's orders.

Jesushelper76 agrees: do not want any scars on the childs face.

I'm sorry that you guys choose to have blind faith in doctors. I don't. I also don't have blind faith in people. The bottom line is- God gives everyone a gut instinct to know what is working and what is not. I'm done with this website. By the way, if my husband and I had trusted his doctor he would have died from double pneumonia which was misdiagnosed as a sinus infection. Oops, maybe we should have finished the 10 days of antibiotics before we questioned the doctor???????????????????????????????????

Jesushelper76 disagrees: Not really that helpful. What are you talking about? This is ringworm we are talking about. If your done with the website. That is your choice. Now leave if your so unhappy here.
J_9 disagrees: Npe not helpful. If I did not have faith in my doctor I would have been dead from cancer.

I retract my advice to buy tetterine ointment. I remember that they changed the formulary some 15 years ago. It now has basically the same ingredients as lamisil.
