Cheap tickets to Southeast Asia- India/NEPAL.?

Does anybody here know about any cheap tickets for a round trip to Nepal/India from east coast US. I can find a good flight as i get to India. I have heard of tickets as much as $1500 and more and this is beyond my reach.

Also, i have heard winter is an off-season. Is that true? for that route?
