    Horse Shelter sizes!
    [COLOR="Red"]hi,
    my friend has some land and is planning to build a shelter on it for the horses that live there. She rents fields out for people and there owners. She was wondering how big a shelter needs to be depending on the amount f horses. Like a ratio.
    she is going to make it herself but is unsure of the sizes. I know that one field has 3 horses in it the largest being a thoroughbred and another may have up to nin horses.
    please please please answer this question xx dani

    I do not know what the size should be but I do know there are ordinances in some jurisdictions on horse shelters. Might be wise to check with Animal Control Dept.

    Any kind of shelter should be large enough for the horses to turn comfortably around in and have their own feed and be warned... some horses take to pooping in their stalls so be prepared to either faithfully clean a couple times a week or so... a good bet for horses on a pasture is to have a free choice walk in... basically a structure with a roof only... its good for hot days toblock the sun and let a breeze in to ventalate the area... if you have winters that are harsh consider a building with large windows and vetalation in the ceilings...

    A run in shed should have a roof and at LEAST 2 sides, the one I have has four, with an oppening on two sides to let them in, so they are blocked from the wind
