I just wanted to share this 5 paragraph essay checklist with those who are confused with revising essays and what you need in your essays:


A. Do you have a title for your essay? YES/NO


B. Do you have an introduction? YES/NO
1. Does your introduction have a topic sentence informing the reader of your essay? YES/NO
2. Does your introduction inform the reader of ALL three subjects you will touch upon in your three body paragraphs? YES/NO
3. In your introduction, do you have a concluding sentence in which you summarize the topic, and draw a conclusion? YES/NO

C. Do you have three body paragraphs?
1. In each of your paragraphs, do you have a topic sentence? YES/NO
2. In each of your paragraphs, do you have supporting sentences? YES/NO
3. In each of your paragraphs, do you have a concluding sentence or a transition sentence?
YES/NO

D. Do you have a concluding paragraph? YES/NO
1. Does your concluding paragraph have a topic sentence reminding the reader of the topic
of your essay? YES/NO
2. Does your concluding paragraph have supporting sentences in which you summarize the topic and draw a conclusion? YES/NO
3. In your concluding paragraph, do you have a closing sentence? YES/NO
