I really don't know what's going on, I have missed two periods and had a positive pregnancy test, I did go to my GP (yesterday) and she is saying yes i'm pregnant based on the missing periods and pos test, i can't even really say the second period is missed because it's this month, only im meant to get it around the beginning or middle. really irregular, i've been given folic acid supplements but i still might not be pregnant, i'm really confused....i'm not experiencing any pregnancy signs other than a funny taste in my mouth which i've read some women get....

is there a way i can find out if i am DEFINATELY pregnant, or not?

thank you for any suggestions.

Get a blood test. But I would say based on the positive pregnancy test that you most likely are. False negative pregnancy tests are possible when there isn't enough hcg built up in your system to register on a pregnancy test. However, a positive test shows that hcg WAS detected in your system, and the only ways for that to happen are a pregnancy or an hcg shot. I would assume you have not had an hcg shot, so it sounds like you are pregnant. Lower than normal hcg levels can indicate a tubal pregnancy, chemical pregnancy or miscarriage, but if you haven't even had your levels tested, I wouldn't worry about any of that.

If you are concerned, go to your dr and request a blood test with hcg levels. This should reassure you. Also an ultrasound can be performed as early as about 6-8 weeks pregnant when you can actually see your little bean. Congrats!

if you have had a positive home test result your doctor should automatically do a urine or blood test to confirm the pregnancy, so that you can begin antinatal care as soon as possible. it sounds like you most probably are pregnant but it is possible to get a false positive result. go back to your doctor and ask for a urine test. good luck!

Well when i questioned the test being wrong my doctor said it could be but basing it on the fact of a positive one and 2 missed periods - or one n half as the actual fact is that i must be, my heads all over so i'm going to talk to someone today anyway, thanks guys for your answers =)
