I'm a 33 year old women with 3 children and a long history of irregular periods. I've been known to go 6 months and even a year without a period. I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I really haven't been that worried about it because I have all the children that I want. Well, then my periods stopped altogether about 2 years ago. My doctor and I thought that it was possible that I had gone into early menopause, so again, I didn't really worry about it. Then I decided to go on a diet, lost 10lbs, and got a very light period that lasted about 6 days. I know weight can be a factor with periods, so I just figured since I had lost weight and was eating better, that maybe my periods had been triggered again. That was the beginning of February. Nothing until mid April when I had a day of spotting followed by another period. I would say this one is medium to heavy. And it's going on 12 days now with no sign of stopping. I'm having a lot of small clots too.

How long do you think I should wait it out before going to the dr? I really don't want to have to go back if I don't need to. I'm thinking it's just my body trying to regulate itself again, but then I don't want to wait too long to see a Dr. if I should be going in. Opinions? Experiences? Knowledge? Oh and btw, I am not pregnant. I took 2 pregnancy tests about a week before my period showed up. Thanks!

i would strongly suggest going to see your gp. get a blood test for pregnancy as the home test results may be incorrect if it is a very early pregnancy. try to find out if clots are a common symptom of P.C.O. Good luck, hope everything is ok.
