Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can shed some light as i am a little confused.

I stopped taking the pill 5 weeks ago. My period is always a 28 day cycle. My husband and I have been having unprotected sex and for the past 2 weeks i have been overly tired, some cramping, some nausea and bloated. My Period is now just over a week late but i have 3 negative pregnancy tests.

Could it be possible that even a week after my due date there is not enough HCG for the pregnancy test to pick up or it sounds unlikely of being pregnant?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks :o

It is possible. It depends on when you actually ovulated and when (if) the embreyo implanted. When I was trying to get pregnant, I would start testing about 5 days after I knew I ovulated. (Yes, I was a tad obsessive). I had quite a few negative tests before I finally got my very faint positive one. It just took time for enough hcg to build up to be detected. It also depends on what pregnancy test you use. Tests can vary from picking up as little as 15 mls or whatevers, up to 100. A blood draw however can detect far less, so you can always get that done at your dr's.

But also, if you have just gone off the pill, you can have symptoms from that. Your body is readjusting to not having all those hormones, so you can have all kinds of symptoms in the mean time. It can also take a month or two to get a period.

Hope this helps!

hello, it can take as long as 12 months for the pill to come out of your system. it is common to have irregular periods and side effects after coming off the pill and this may continue until your body gets back into routine.
