Hello.
I am on my H1 rite now, which started from Oct'06 and I did not earn anything on it.

I did not earn anything on my OPT, which is my status till my H1 started.

My only earnings on F1 are to be filed for returns this year.

I filed the 1040EZ form.

I was told that it was the wrong form. Is 1040NR, the correct form?

If so, Do I need to file an amendment for this? And when is the deadline for the amendment? Shall i wait till my refund gets processed and amend it with my next year tax filing? or Do I need to do it before 'morrow's deadline (April 17th)
I'm confused.
Please help me out.
Thanks.

Yes, the correct form is either Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ.

Now that the 17 April 2007 deadline is passed, wait until you receive the refund. Then file Form 1040X and attach a correctly-prepared Form 1040NR-EZ (with the word 'AMENDED' on top of the first page) to the Form 1040X.

Ask that your non-resident alien status for 2006 be re-instated on page 2 of the Form 1040X.
