Is itunes a program that is only used if you have an iPod? If not could someone tell me what itunes is for? I don't have a mp3 player or and iPod and was wondering if I need this software

You can use it to manage and play your music. Also you can use it to purchase music.

I don't have enough music tracks on my computer to need a Music Organizer program like iTunes. Some people can't live without it, but if you've only got a couple of dozen tracks on your PC, you're better off just putting them in the ordinary Windows music folder.

I take it your completely new to computers Kat?

iTunes has three purposes:

1) to manage tracks of music and video
2) to synchronize those tracks with an iPod
3) to download from the iTunes store.

Without an iPod you have no need for the software. If you do get an MP3 player (an iPod is an MP3 player an MP3 play may not be an iPod) you can use Windows Media Player.

I think Capuchin explained it better than me - I keep mixing up iTunes with QuickTime.
