when I want to open a link in a web page, and also in an email message, i have to hold down the Shift key and Enter key at the same time. this just started a little while ago. is there someway i can reset or change it so all i have to do is hit the Enter key again?

I'm assuming that you are using the Shift key because you want to open the link in a new window. Before anyone else does it I'm going to recommend you have a look at Firefox and make it your default browser. Then you can add Extensions like Adblock and Tabbrowser Preferences. I don;t try to fix Internet Explorer, I stay away from it.
