I am wanting to change from a Trane tstat (model TAYSTAT241) with six wires: Green to G1, Red to R, Blue to B, White to W1, Brown to W2, and yellow to Y1 to a Honeywell Programmable (RTH230B) with five connections: Rh to Rc (jumped), W, Y, G.

I have a Trane XV90 (model # TXC031C4HPCO-1999). My problem is with the blue and the brown wires. Where do they go? Do I tape them? ...or what?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have a heat pump you have the wrong thermostat. You need one with 2 heat connections W1 and W2.

I do not have a heat pump. The Trane XV90 is gas/forced air with AC.

Thanks,

Next question. Is that furnace a two stage because the wire letter numbers rom the old trane thermostst is saying it has two stages of heat. That is why I asked if it was a heat pump. Two stage gas furnaces also require two stage thermostats. That is what w1 and w2 are. They are the two heat stages.

I checked and found out the the Trane XV90 is a two-stage furnace (not a heat pump) with a variable speed blower. I will probably need a tstat with the W1 and W2. Right?

Thanks

YES I figured it was a heat pump or two stage furnace. Good luck getting it hooked up and running.

I will probably back up and start over again. This time I will ask questions.

Thanks,
