Good morning, I live in Georgia and we tried to start our A/C yesterday. The compressor never turned on however the fan from the furnance did. Now the fan in the furnance will not turn off even when i remove the thermostat. the only way to turn off fan is to "kill" power to the furnance however when power is restored the fan goes on right a way i assume that the fan relay maybe stuck on. but do i have 2 problems maybe the compressor relay stuck off?

thanks ps I am an electrian so i can play some what with the system but i am not a HVAC expert by any means.

Yes you could have a stuck fan relay. Since you are a electrician you can test that and also check for the t-stat wiring for continunity and grounding. I would check the fuses or breakers for the outside unit. See if there is a 24 volt signal going to the contactor/starter for the compressor. If you have 24 volts the coil should be pulled in to run the unit.
