Hello all:

I am new here. Can someone help me to pin down a problem I'm having with a windows XP Pro OS.

I installed a modem, loaded drivers, and was in the process of updating the drivers from windows updater. Then I got a "BLUE SCREEN" (have had a few).

I have removed the hardware and uninstalled the the drivers, but sometimes the computer locks up (just stops responding).

What can be done to pin-piont the malfunction?

It seems I have another problem; CPU fan is running slow (should be 6000 RPM, is running 2200 to 4200 RPM and as slow as 1000 at times) (temps as high as 63C / 149F )

Replacing the fan should solve the problem as long as the CPU is not damaged.

Regards

The "Blue Screen of Death" usually occures because of "Memory Issues". IE: wrong settings in CMOS, mixed brands or mb's of sticks installed, when not all slots are used one or more installed in wrong slots; or memory just went bad, yadda, yadda. Yadda.....
