Hi

This is really not a textbook question like other questions here.
My company is building a prototype machine for a biotech research and I am wondering if I am supposed to capitalize this cost (and depreciate over the life of the equipment) or expense the entire cost all at once as R&D expense. What other clarifications do you need for this determination?
