Don't know if anyone can answer this for me -
I'm a frustrated renter who's looking for an answer. We have a York high efficiency heat pump - that's the extent of my knowledge about the unit, unfortunately.
During the coldest part of the winter, the unit was blowing air that was barely warm at best. Our maintenance guy came out, looked at it and agreed that it wasn't giving the heat that it should have been. He said that he was getting a reading of 80-something when it should have been about 92.
If I understood what he was saying, he bypassed the relay. If that is, in fact, what he did, it helped. The unit has been working well; no problems.
My question is: Is it safe to leave it as is, with the relay bypassed? He said that it wouldn't hurt anything to run it like that, especially while it was real cold outside. Now that we'll be using the A/C before long, I want to make sure it's safe. (Don't want my furnace catching fire, or something!) Can't seem to get any answers out of him.
Thanks in advance, if anyone can clue me in.
