Why do people chemically process their hair?

Women have been coloring, perming and straightening their hair for centuries. Most people have their hair chemically treat to enhance their appearance. Another reason is because people want to look fashionable.

I get a permanent because my hair is straight as a board and I like to have some bounce and style to it. Much easier to take care of. When I first started having grey hair, I went and had my hair colored. I no longer do that, the grey hairs have grown faster than I can count.
