My mom is an alcoholic and a long time smoker. She has been 6 months sober and has picked up a new addiction. Ice, not the drug, but literally frozen water... She says it curbs her craving for nicotine sometimes. Does anyone know a reason why she might choose ice?

This is common. It is also healthy. Good thing it is goold old fashioned H2O rather than the drug.

This is just giving her something to do with her mouth (chewing) rather than smoking or drinking. Some people choose candy to chew or food when they quit. This is why so many people gain so much weight. She just chose something healthy.

Good for her, and congratulations on her sobriety!!
