Hello. I had a WR 1F30-301 thermostat 2 wires (blue & white) that stopped working. I bought a White-Rodgers model #251 but the instructions are that came with it are the same as for the 1st thermostat I had. The 251 has 3 sections to it but I don't know if the wires go on the thin back plate or on the middle plate.

Here are the search results I got for a White-Rodgers 251.
Search (http://www.emersonclimate.com/en-us/Search/Pages/Results.aspx?k=251)

The install instructions are usually pretty clear once you find your stat from the list.

Hello Grady and thank you for the reply. Below is the url for my particular thermostat.

White-Rodgers no longer lists that stat on their web site but I have to presume there is only one plate with screws marked with letters such as R & W. Find those terminals & attach one wire to each. It doesn't matter which wire goes to R & which goes to W.

Grady, thank you very much:)

Season's Greetings

You are more than welcome. BTW, if the old thermostat had a mercury bulb in it, do not throw it in the trash. Mercury is very hazzardous to the environment. Contact your local government on how to properly dispose of it. Usually they have special recycle containers for old thermostats.

Hope you & yours have a Merry Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate this time of year.
