bluebkracer15 Jan 13, 2005, 03:27 PM Hello, I have descovered that I have a bump behind my right ear. It wasnt there until few days ago when i noticed it. When I touch it, its hard but does not hurt. I dont know what it may be, can some one please tell me what it could be and if I need to see a doctor.
Thanks
summerbaby Jun 24, 2005, 02:01 PM Have you had your ear pierced? If so, it could be a keloid scar. If not, it may be just as minor as a pimple.
fredg Jun 25, 2005, 06:17 AM Hi,
PLEASE see a doctor!!
A lump could mean nothing bad, such as a lypoma, which is just a lump caused by skin oils, and is not harmful.
It could also mean something more serious, expecially if it continues to grow.
For your own peace of mind, and to know what it is, see a doctor.
Best wishes,
fredg
25rps Jul 28, 2005, 11:03 PM mosquito bite? wart? pimple? swollen lymph node? tumor? ... in any case check it out. the laugh you might get from a doctor if its just a pimple is far better than the silence youl get if you were a bit too late in getting it checked and its a tumor

xbox1977 Nov 20, 2005, 06:07 PM i have a lump behind my right ear also, it is right behind the middle part of my ear about an inch above my earlobe. i would say it is in between a half centimeter to 3/4 of a centimeter, it feels hard and doesnt hurt at all. not sure what it could be, i dont have a bump behind my left hear at all. its like right behind my ear but before the hairline too.
PrettyLady Nov 30, 2005, 01:14 AM The lump behind your ear could be a sebaceous cyst or a lymph Node. They can take months to reduce or sometimes they stay enlarged. Fred, is right, you should go see your doctor.
fredg Nov 30, 2005, 04:19 AM Hi,
This original posted question is a YEAR OLD!!
xbox1977 Dec 5, 2005, 09:20 AM do you think it is my postauricular lymph node? what would cause that lymph node to swell? could it swell from a clogged ear from was or a wisdom tooth partially coming thru on that side of my mouth?

steph99 Jun 22, 2007, 10:08 PM If its the size of a golfball almost, go get it checked out immediately! Ive had a hard lump behind my right ear for over a year now. Its about the size of a golfball and its hard as bone. It doesnt hurt to touch.
I was getting headaches in my lump so we finally went to the doctor about a month ago. They did a cat scan. The doctor thought it was a tumor!! But it turns out that theres nothing I can do about it b/c its not a tumor, its just an imflamed muscle.... what ever. I dont know what to do. they said its the result of severe migranes...???
And now the back, bottom part of my skull is swollen!! Everytime I turn my head to the left it pops.
I need help. I dont know what to do :(

hevsym Jan 29, 2008, 11:52 PM I was just going to ask about a hard lump I have behind my ear, which I have had for almost a week now, when I just saw the possible answer from Avarick.
I was at the dentist last week and had a root filling, so I'm hoping that this lump is connected with my visit.:p
I will see the doc but I feel a little better. I haven't needed dental treatment for years, and the second I do I get this lump. I would never have made a connection without this site, thanks all! (but I will go to the docs just in case!)
jnestielle Mar 1, 2008, 04:51 PM I just found the same type of thing behind my *right* ear.... it's a little weird that everyone seems to be getting it behind their right ear. At first I thought it was a blind pimple, but they usually hurt much much more when I get them. It's about as wide as my pinkie fingernail, but it doesn't stick out that much. I hope it isn't anything bad..

I get these purple lumps behind my ear, ( in between my earlobe and my hairline) They are soft lumps, at times they do hurt and times when they just itch. Iv gone to a doctor and he prescribes cream for them...I started getting them behind my right ear 2 years ago and now get them behind both off and on....they grow to various sizes then drain on their own. This is the 3rd time in 3 yrs iv had them.

Tamarama Jun 9, 2008, 05:47 PM Hi all!! I found this website and post as a result of a "lump behind my ear". I was hoping to get some answers.
I first got a golfball size lumpon my ear when I was 8 years old (18 years ago). I had it operated on and most of this "cyst" was removed. A similar problem came back but near the front of the ear (swollen). I was told that it couldn't be the same cyst as they don't move.
It would come and go and I still don't really know what causes it. a lump behind my ear also daily swells up and never really goes away. I can't sleep on the one side of my head and I often get headaches and neckaches.
I have seen many specialists and had a few CT scans and there isn't really anything any one can tell me. I guess I am lucky (for now) because it doesn't seem to be a tumor or cancerous, and for that I am very thankful.
I just wish there was someone who could tell me something I could do to reduce the pain and tell me what causes this.
Thanks for letting me vent. It's been a long 18 years.
seektruth Sep 3, 2008, 04:45 PM I don't mean to scare anyone but "behind the right ear" is apparently one of a few places where extra-terrestrial beings would place an implant. I too have a bump behind my right ear and am contemplating going for a CAT scan.
If you've had this bump most of your life (I have had this bump since I was in my early teens) and if it hasn't swollen up or disappeared, I have reason to believe that it is neither lymph-related, cyst-related, nor tumor-related.
Either way, get it checked.
riissa Feb 14, 2009, 11:42 PM Heyy, I have a lump behind my right ear too and it hurts when I touch it. I noticed it last night about 11.30pm. I'm scared of what it could be.
I'm only 14 but I have similar ones on my boobs but they don't hurt, they've ben there as long as I can remember having them =//
Does anyone have any ideas?
xx =[
wannabe_doc Apr 13, 2009, 10:29 AM A postauricular lymph node swelling is because of either ear infection due to excess hard wax or due to scalp infection aka dandruff.
Check with the ENT for an accurate report and the faster you get it checked, the faster it goes away.

You need to check out both the lumps. The lumps on your breasts might probably be benign but significant.
roxy09 Jun 13, 2009, 07:40 PM I had a lump in my breast and I went to the doctor and they told my it was a calcium deposit it was close to the skin hard and about the size of a pea.I also have a lump behind my right ear that appeared 2 days ago.I havent made an appointment yet i will let you know the out come.I would tell your parents to make an appointment for you
lolls Jun 17, 2009, 11:31 PM I just got a bad allergic reaction to a black hair dye. It started with the same lump and almost a week later I had to go to the dermatologist for a cortizone shot.
The Doctor said it can take up to 7 days for your body to react to a new allergy.
Do you have an itchy scalp? Is your scalp wet like an open wound? Do you have lumps under your skin on the back of your had and neck?
If so go buy a Peppermint Oil based leave in conditioner and leave it on your hair after you shower. It will help you make it through the night without itching. You can leave it in during the day to if you wear a head wrap or bandana.
And call a dermatologist to get a shot. My reaction took over a week in a half to develop so catch it before it gets worse.
zebby Jun 29, 2009, 03:06 PM ok so ive just had an operation on my right eye-lid within the last 2 weeks it went fine
but a couple of days ago i felt a lump behind my right ear its pretty hard and feels like bone but its a little bit painful to touch but not only that i have another kinda swelled up lump near my ear on the front near between the space where sideburns and ear are also on the right side of my face , it feels likes its swollen and it hurts a lil too only when touched tho.....
im quite worried and im not sure what to do can anyone help me ??
El_Rey Jun 30, 2009, 03:19 PM Hey, I had one once. It's benign so you don't have to worry. If it's he same thing that I had then it's a cyst. Mine grew over the ears and it started to make me look really weird and I was uncomfortable going into public areas. It can be removed by simple surgery so go check it out at a doctor before it grows any bigger!
MikeMD Nov 18, 2009, 08:31 PM Relax ppl...it is just an aggravated lymph node...suffering allergy symptoms too maybe? Thats all it is guys...take it easy.....take a deep breath....you're all fine. :)
