You can't uninstall XP. You need to create a bootable floppy (try bootdisk.com) that has Format (and maybe FDisk) on it. Boot to the floppy and reformat the drive (you may also have to repartition which is where you may need Fdisk). Then you can install 98SE on it.

You will, of course, lose everything on the drive. You will also need to FIRST make sure you have the drivers for all the hardware.

Win98 and DOS do not recognize NTFS, which is probably what your XP is installed on.

You need a floppy disk drive on the PC you want to install Win 98 on.

You need to create a Win98 boot disk, as ScottGem suggested. This boot disk will load the cd-rom drivers and make DOS utilites such as Fdisk available.

Fdisk is the disk formatting utility, it will let you reformat and partition your NTFS drive into a compatible FAT32 or FAT drive.

When the cd-rom drivers are installed, DOS will assign a drive letter to the CD. Now you can access the CD which has Win98 install disk, and run setup from there.
