Assuming your pup is quite young, and in that case the only safe alternative is a vet visit if you want to keep her safe. We can't diagnose over the internet, Diana, very difficult to do, but if it is runny stools and vomitting, then it can be serious.

Find a vet, she needs a check over and you have to find out about her vaccinations. Vaccinations for young dogs is something you can't avoid.

How old are you Diana ?

I'm trying not to assume here, so forgive me, but I'm guessing that your pup has had no vaccines.
The first concern with a pup that is vomiting having diarrhea and is "down" is parvo.
You need to find a way to get her to the vet and get her checked out.
Of course it cold be other things, but given the prevalence of Parvo that may very well be what you are dealing with.
Call the vets in your area, see if they can point you in the directions of agencies that may be able to help you.
But you NEED to get her in to be looked at by a vet.

Why did you get a puppy when you know you don't have the money to even vaccinate it?

Well than you were wrong to take a puppy with unknown health.

Pets are expensive, especially sick ones and especially free ones.

Rehome the puppy or call a vet or watch your puppy get sicker. Choices are yours to make

You need to find a new home for this pup. Your friend thought he was doing the right thing, but I'm sorry, you don't "take good care of" your pets. Part of having a pet is having the money to care for that pet. You don't have the money. I get it, most of us are on a tight budget and vet care isn't cheap, but if you can't afford vet care then you can't afford a pet, and denying a very sick animal vet care is not "taking good care" of your pet.

Sounds like your pup has parvo. That's not a diagnosis, that's a guess, but it's a pretty educated guess. If it is parvo then the pup will die without vet care. That's the bottom line.

There's nothing you can do to fix this at home. The pup needs a vet.

This is frustrating.

People think they are saving animals from people who cannot care for them when THEY THEMSELVES cannot care for the dog.

If you do not have the money to go to a vet clinic to at least let the doctor look at your dog, you are not caring for your animals.. you are not taking "good" care of them.. You're just lucking out on not having any sicknesses.

Go to a vet clinic, talk to them.. see what they have to offer. TELL the doctor you are on a fixed budget. They will try to help you.

If you don't try anything, than you are a bad pet owner. If you at least try to fix the issue, and fail, you at least tried and no one can fault you for that. This puppy needs medicine. There are no remedies that will cure this puppy that is free. Even at home holistic medicine will cost you a couple hundred dollars.

At 7:06pm you posted that you have an appointment tomorrow morning.

At 7:22pm you've been to the vet and have a diagnosis?

Wow, we're not that dumb. Sorry. (

So humor me. What did the "veteran" say was going on?

Actually, I screwed it up. First post was at 7:06 pm, second was at 7:20pm.

So in 14 minutes the OP went from not being able to afford a vet, to having a vet appointment tomorrow, to already having gone to the vet and having a diagnosis.

I sit in the waiting room of my vet for longer than 14 minutes.

Okay. That makes more sense.

Your other post was very horribly written. From that post it sounded like you already went to the vet, 14 minutes after you posted that you had an appointment tomorrow, and that you were given a diagnosis and told to just go home and give pedialyte.

Pedialyte will help. If it's parvo than the sooner you get in to the vet the higher the pups chance for survival. Parvo is deadly. The earlier it's caught and treated, the better. An hour or two can make a huge difference. The fatality rate for parvo is very high.

Any chance of your dad loaning you the money tonight so you can get the pup into the 24 hour vet?

Am not sayingim not taking her to vet I them she only told me to keep giving her pedialyte is because that's the only thing she's keeping down and since I been giving her pedialyte she hasent vomit

Okay, let me try again.

I realize that you're taking her to the vet tomorrow. That's good. Good girl. Pedialyte is good, it will help, but it's not a cure. Keep giving her the pedialyte, that's good. Very good. Understand?

Parvo is very deadly. That means that dogs that get parvo, more of them die than live. The sooner it's treated (which means seen by a vet and given the right medicine), the better the chances of living. That means that if you take the dog to the vet now, the dogs chances of living are better than if you take the dog tomorrow morning.

Do you understand?

Yea he gave it to my husband to give it to me because he couldn't take care of her and he know my situation that I was in that the reason I couldn't afford the because of my depression I have to pay my hospital bills

Enigma1999

I think that the bottom line here is that you can't afford the puppy. After the puppy has been to the vet, I think you should rehome to a family who is capable of taking care of her.

If you are depressed, then get on something, but don't make another living thing suffer because you don't have the funds to take care of her.

I know I seem harsh, but lets face it, you are being selfish.

Why do you have to go to the hospital for your depression?

I suffer from depression. I know what it entails, and it doesn't hospital bills.

I also know that giving someone with depression a puppy, is stupid. A person that's so deep in depression that they need to be hospitalized, can't care for a puppy, they can't even wipe their own butt.

Here's what I think. I think you bought the puppy, and you can't afford it. You didn't properly care for the pup, didn't get her the shots she needs, now she has parvo. You feel guilty, because you weren't a good pet owner, so you lied and said that a friend gave you the puppy because he couldn't care for it. Silly. Why would a friend that can't care for a puppy give the puppy to someone else that can't care for it?

When you decide to start telling the truth, I'll be happy to listen, but dear, you're not smart enough to lie to me and not be detected. Telling the truth would be a lot easier.

She is probably telling the truth. When my uncle was depressed (he was bipolar), his neighbors all kicked in and gave him a beautiful caged bird. He loved birds and the neighbors thought the bird would cheer him up. One day I watched him vacuuming up the seed covers on the floor and saw him trying to suck the bird through the bars of the cage. I returned the bird to the neighbors and took him to the hospital psych unit for 6-8 weeks (where he went every few years after he would stop taking his meds)..
