I have two Noma thermostats that I installed about 3 years ago. One is on the main floor and the other is in the basement. They were both installed by an electrician. I live in Ottawa during the week and on weekends I go home to Montebello, Quebec. Friday September 7th I returned home to Montebello to pack my suitcase to go to the cottage, that day it was about 27 degrees outside. When I entered my house it was like 50 degrees. I couldn't understand how come it was so so hot in the house. I immediately opened the windows and patio door and I felt heat coming out of the wall near the patio door. I felt the wall and it was burning hot, I touched the heating boards and they were full blast. I then looked at the thermostat and there was no reading on it just a big arrow, I couldn't bring the heat control down, I couldn't read anything. I ask my neighbour to come and shut it down at the control panel, which he did. He then disconnected it from the wall. He couldn`t even open the small door, so he had to break the unit in order to get to the screws. If I hadn`t stopped at home before going to the cottage, my house would have burned down. I disconnected the basement thermostat also. I asked an electrician and he said that some of Noma thermostats are defective. My question is, will Noma replace both thermostat and also, will they pay the difference on my Hydro bill which I know will be very high if it was on from Monday until Friday.
