Wanted: recommendations for breaking up and removing old cement laundry tubs from my basement. I've heard it's a messy job. Tips wanted.

Tarp to put under it for the fine debris, dust mask, safety glasses and a short handled heavy hammer, like 2.5 pounds. It's usually easy. They are pretty fragile to a heavy hammer.

First, disconnect the plumbing...the water pipes and the waste pipes. Disconnect the waste line in a manner that it can't do major damage to the pipes if some concrete falls on them. Temporarily plug the end of the drain pipe to kep sewer gasses from entering the home.

Second, is as Smoothy recommended...most of these come out in 5 or 6 large pieces if you hit them in the right place.

Good luck!
