Hello everyone, I have a dilemma of sorts I need help with. I just transferred from onecollege to another last week. I have been accepted into my new college. The only problem now is, I applied with my maiden name. I recently was married and I am just now getting into the name changing process so my husband's last name will be my official last name in the next week or so. I have already completed everything for my new college with my maiden name including my FAFSA. So my question is, if my name change becomes official in the next week or so, can I just call the admissions department and alert them of my new name change and then update my FAFSA to show my name has changed as well? Or would changing of my last name affect my financial aid and my old transcripts from high school and my previous university I attended? Thanks for your time! If anyone knows the answer, please let me know.

Call the registrar office at the college. I did the same thing many years ago. At that time, they had me wait until I had my social security card and driver license in my new name. My first semester I used my maiden name, then the registrar had it changed for the second semester. As for the FAFSA, you use your Social Security number, so I was able to change that information pretty easily.
