My supply vents are in the slab. Rats have gotten in somehow and we made the mistake of putting out poison. We now have stinking dead rats in the vents. Is there some way to find the dead rats and where they got in? If not, it appears that I will have to abandon those vents, go to an upflow furnace and re vent in the attic. Robot camera? anyone?
I hope that a duct cleaner can retrieve rats and clean deep in the slab. A duct cleaner that I used on a pervious house had a huge truck with four 2 foot diameter 10 foot high filter sacks which ballooned into the air when they started the blowers. The blowers were attached to the supply air (updraft furnace). They then proceeded to feather dust around the vent openings behind the registers. But only about two feet into the duct. This would not have retrieved anything in the duct which wasn't light enough to blow. However, I plan to call several cleaners today and see if they have another method which has a chance to work. I just thought someone might have a clever idea or experience with a similar problem.
