My ford taurus won't shift into any gears.. Wha could be the problem? the shifter just slides and don't lock into any gears..

Open the hood and look at the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS), located directly in front of the driver. A linkage from the shifter goes to the TRS. Make sure the nut securing the linkage to the TRS is tight.
