the answer to your question is in the FULL model number.

the size of the unit will start at 1 1/2 tons (the smallest) and increase by a 1/2 ton per model size.

18 or 18000 in the model number means 1 1/2 ton ( a ton being 12000 btuh)

the size will increase by 6000 btuh to 24 or 24000 (2 ton) and so on.
