How can I find out if my granddaughter has been legally adopted by her seemingly abusive and neglective aunt? I do not like what I see when I visit. Am I able to provide her with stability, love, and care.
If she has not been legally adopted, by this woman, I want to seek full custody. My grandaughter has expressed to me, that her aunt doesn't love her. She is only 3yrs old and that she knows that I do Love Her.
I have recently been laid off from my job, but I can provide a stable and loving home for her.
I realize that first I need to find out is she has been legally adopted, but what are my options after my findings?

Ask to see adoption records

Have you talked to the parents? You can, as Chuck said, ask to see the adoption order. Or you can search through the court records for the adoption records.

Thank you Fr Chuck,
Yes, Faith does make all things possible.

Thank you Scott,
Who do I ask about the adoption order?

You ask the aunt. If she has one she can produce it. If she doesn't you have to go to court and compel her to.

Thank you,
I will do that.
I will be back on-line to let you know the results.
Have a great day!
