Hi ,

I am an indian citizen on H1B visa in the US for last 5 years. I recently married and my wife is a US permanent resident. I am trying to fill out 2012 W4 since I dont want to overpay or under pay my taxes but the W4 is really confusing. My wife works in FL and I work in GA. We maintain a resident in Atlanta GA but we are out on business for the week. How do I fill out the W4 and all the boxes on it so that correct amount of taxes are withheld from my paycheck and that I neither get a big refund or owe a lot at the end of year....any advice will be much appreciated.

Since you both work, you must over-withhold for one salary being taxed at a tax rate that STARTS at 15%.

The spouse that earns the higher salary should claim MARRIED with one allowance on the W-4.

The other spouse claims MARRIED with ZERO allowances.
