My brother received Supervised Probation after pleading guilty on a 4 point traffic violation. The judge told the prosecutor that he did not think he could give supervised probation on a traffic violation but ordered it. Is there some way to check on if this is legal.

I'd hire a lawyer. Because even if you found out that it WAS illegal, you're gonna need somebody to DO something about it. The judge ISN'T going to listen to your brother.

I know in GA, you can get probation for any traffic office, esp if you can not pay the fine the day of the court. Most here are done though private probation companies.

In genera a judge can give any sentence he wants, even stupid ones, like standing on the corner wearing a sign. If you wish to object the sentence you will have to hire an attorney to do it.
