I just qot pulled over about 10 minutes aqo.
I'm 16 years old and I qot a ticket.
But the cops made me sit in their car & they talked to me about helping them bust a drug dealer , any drug dealer and I told them I did not know any. They gave me a week to find one and help them arrest him and they said they would void my ticket. They also said for me to not lose the pink ticket if I did they could not void it because they need all the copies to the ticket? Is this leqal? Can anythinq be done to a cop for doinq this?

Police and prosecutors do this all the time, and how legal some of it is usually fits in grey areas. The fact is that you were driving illegally so the ticket stands.
It can be argued that a 16 year old told to 'find a drug dealer, any drug dealer' is being put at risk, and a good lawyer working for free (pro bono) might want to hear about this for a case against the police department. But it's not a defense for you; it's totally unrelated. And it's tenuous (iffy), because the police can say that's not what they told you. I have a feeling that the most that would happen is a slap on the wrist.
And finally, if they stopped you at a known drug dealing location, or know something already about you/family etc. or ran the owner info on the car you were driving, then you need to be careful about any waves you make.

There is a lot more to this story. I note this was posted at 3:44AM I believe the time stamp is EST. But that means anywhere in the US it was nighttime. Anywhere from 1-4 AM. At 16 your license should be restricted to some extent. IN NYS I believe a 16 yr old can't drive alone or at night. In any case, what was a 16 yr old doing out that time of night?

And what was the ticket for?

Also what type of police force was this, small town, medium city or what?

Can anythinq be done to a cop for doinq this?Hello p:

You are NOT required to TALK to a cop. That means AT ALL. EVER. PERIOD. I'd stick to that advice. Be polite. But, be quiet.

Pay the ticket. And if you don't know any drug dealers, keep it that way.

They are assuming that most likely because of where you were or the time it was, that perhaps you were up to something and perhaps it involved drugs

No they don't normally put you in the back of their car ( unless trying to scare you) normally for a ticket you just sit in your car.

Next a traffic ticket is not near enough to do anything with drug dealers, just pay the ticket. And often even if you did help them, you still have to pay the ticket anyway. * yea they are allowed to lie to you.
