i have a murray riding mower with two different numbers on the metal plate on the back they are 82-2238. the next number is 9-40622x15, but when looking up on murrays website neither number works as a model number

Hi,
The first number cannot be correct since there have to be 5 digits after the hyphen. The second number is correct but it was a limited production machine. The closest I could find a parts breakdown for was 9-40620 which is at:
"K&T Parts House Lawn Mower Parts and Chain Saw & Trimmer Parts" (http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/)
and scroll down to the model beginning with 9-36600 and notice that the last listing is the 9-40620.
