To whom it may concern
I have been on J1 status in USA since November 2005.I have filed and received my 2005 tax return fully as it was on W2 form but when I filed my tax return for the year of 2006 which I was here for the whole year out of almost 4000$ on my W2 I only get 842$ of Federal and 10$ of State.Desperately seeking assistance to find out if we can get the whole amount that is on the W2 form since we are here only for limited time on J1 status.

Best Regards

Kerem:

I suspect you filed incorrectly for 2005.

You should have filed Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ for 2005 and probably for 2006 as well, as your J-1 status usually gives you non-resident alien status.
