I have a host computer which is a wired connection with good speed ,we also have a laptop connected by wireless with a much reduced speed, our router has another 4 terminal slots for making a wired connection to the laptop is it a simple matter of connecting the longer ethernet cable to the router and laptop and would this give me a higher speed.

Regards

Ethernet cables can come in any length you want and yes a wired connection will run faster than a wireless one, BUT your net connection will be the slow point for either connection.
