I work in s.c. But live in ga. I once lived in a low income development to which I could no longer afford. This collection agency refused me payment arrangements unless I gave them money on the spot. After refusing to be pressured by her, I was threatened with garnishment. She currently is unaware that I work in s.c. but, will she be able to garnish my wages?

They will have to get a judgment against you, but if they do, then yes they can garnish your salary.

Collection agency, how old is the debt? When did you last pay anything or acknowledge the debt?

The can only garnish that portion of the salary which is above a certain amount or percentage.

The question was whether they can garnish, not how much.
