I am wondering about garnishment in California.I have a civil suit pendinding.I was in a car accident were I was found at fault. The other party got out and said he was fine. The damage to our cars together was less than 1200.No amulance was called to the site.He told me he was not hurt and was pacing back and forth out side.I had no insurance at the time. The cop sited no one on the site and said it was no ones fault. We I left the other party and the cop were talking.Three days later I got a ticket in the mail. This is in Ohio.I am a student but have a job offer in another state.California,I want to go but the other party has filed a suit against me,his insurance, his work insurance(he was in a work van),and the ohio state workers compensation.
Can he garnish my wadges in ca?Can he touch my student loans? What about my bank accounts? What about the other insurance companies involved? I don't think the guy got hurt. All of the damage was near me.

Yes, he can garnish CA wages, no he can't touch your student loans, yes he can attach bank accounts.

Apparently he filed a claim against his insurer and also a workers comp claim that was denied so he is suing. Don't let this stop you from accepting a job offer, but you will need an attorney to represent you in court.
