Hi everyone,

So I just graduated college and like many I am confused. Originally I planned on going to college and then join the military. But now that I am four years educated about the world and the military and found great college friends and professionals, I am deeply confused. I attended UC Berkeley and this school taught me everything. Cal taught me all the negatives of the military - its relations with the rest of the world, its abuse of the environment, and discrimination of colored people (I am Latino). Although I know this much I am still attracted to the service. I like the military because I am a very disciplined, I love the power of authority, and I deeply love the respect and admiration. With the military I believe I will get to travel, hopefully get my college loans paid, and get an officer education I can't get nowhere else.

I have asked many friends to seek their opinion and their only responses are why would I do that if I already graduated from a prestigious university. I feel I am not ready to just get a job and settle. Life can't be so simple and short. My original viewlook in life was get an outstanding education and attain a unique experience in the military.

I don't want to do join the military simply to serve my country. I am not one of those. I can do that many other ways. I want to join so I can better myself even more. More where? I don't know. I just know being an officer will help me in the long run.

The branches I am thinking about are the USAF or the Coast Guard. Can I get any feedback please? I would like feedback from military elders and professionals.
